The Town Sergeant is defined in the Town Charter to protect the rights and safety of all the people. Today, the Scottsville Police Department (SVPD) upholds the best practices of community policing.

Scottsville employs a part-time police chief and two full-time officers, as well as part-time and auxiliary officers. The Town has mutual aid agreements with all three surrounding counties, working together for public safety. The SVPD is active in community engagements and service. More information about  their work in the community can be found on the SVPD Facebook Page.

The Town sends policing data to the state government according to the Virginia Community Policing Act. Visit their website to see statewide data, and search for Scottsville.
