All committees meet in the conference room beside Council Chambers on the second floor of Victory Hall at 401 Valley Street, unless otherwise specified.

Arts & Culture Committee
Meets as needed.

Chair: Laura C. Mellusi

The committee is charged with working with and promoting civic and nonprofit organizations, coordinating event volunteers, and ¬†coordinating and fundraising town-sponsored events.¬† To see a calendar, visit the town’s “Arts&Culture” page.

Enhancement Projects Oversight Committee
Meets as needed.

Chair:

This Committee is charged with advising Town Council on the planning, management, and implementation of enhancement projects. The Committee reviews proposed contractual agreements, procurements, aesthetic options, and other relevant management issues relating to this project, and makes a recommendation to the Mayor and Town Council, which retains full decision making authority.

Government Services Committee
Meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
Chair: Liz Knotts

A standing committee charged with “full responsibility for ensuring the people of Scottsville receive responsive, quality administrative services from their Town government. Subject to the availability of resources, Council will provide the committee with the means and authority needed to carry out that responsibility.”

Maintenance and Beautification Committee
Meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m.

Chair: Liz Knotts

A standing committee charged with providing the Town with reliable maintenance and proper cleaning of its public properties, and most importantly, representing the Town as good stewards of the public land, with special attention to the impact on the James River and its watershed. The Town properties include streets and sidewalks, Victory Hall, Canal Basin Square, Farmers’ Market Pavilion, Bruce Park, Dorrier Park, Butterfly Garden, the Levee Walk, and Mink Creek.

Tourism and Economic Development Committee
Meets as needed.

Chair: Dan Gritsko

A standing committee charged with “full responsibility for promoting the Town to attract tourists and consumers, establishing conditions conducive to achieving a robust and vital climate for local businesses, and attracting appropriate new industries and businesses to provide jobs for the people of Scottsville.¬† Subject to the availability of resources, Council will provide the committee with the means and authority needed to carry out that responsibility.”

Traffic, Public Safety, and Infrastructure Committee
Meets the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

Chair: Randall Nolt

A standing committee charged with “full responsibility for ensuring the streets and sidewalks, traffic regulations and signs, public parking, sewer and water, and other public utilities and facilities, police, fire, rescue, flood, inspection, and other protective services best meet the needs of the people of Scottsville. Subject to the availability of resources, Council will provide the committee with the means and authority needed to carry out that responsibility.”
