Garbage and Recycling

Residents may contract for garbage collection through the services of a private firm, or they may dispose of garbage at the RSWA Convenience Center in Ivy (4576 Dick Woods Road) for a small fee. Curbside residential pickup by private contractors should be scheduled for Thursdays only.

A recycling container for newspapers, magazines, and catalogs is located behind the Scottsville Community Center (Old Scottsville School), near the ball fields. Other recyclable items can be taken to the McIntire Road Recycling Center in Charlottesville.

Twice yearly, in the spring and in the fall, the town provides for curbside pickup of household trash and larger items such as old appliances, to encourage residents to keep the area around their homes clean and attractive. For more information, contact the Town Office at 434.286.9267.
