COMMITTEE CHARTERS

Readopted by Town Council on July 19, 2004.

Economic Development Committee

This Charter establishes a standing committee of the Town Council of the Town of Scottsville to be known as the Economic Development Committee. The committee is charged with establishing conditions conducive to achieving a robust and vital climate for local businesses and attracting appropriate new industries and businesses to provide jobs for the people of Scottsville. Subject to the availability of resources, Council will provide the committee with the means and authority needed to carry out that responsibility.

Government Services Committee

This Charter establishes a standing committee of the Town Council of the Town of Scottsville to be known as the Government Services Committee. The committee is charged with full responsibility for ensuring the people of Scottsville receive responsive, quality administrative services from their Town government. Subject to the availability of resources, Council will provide the committee with the means and authority needed to carry out that responsibility.

Historic Preservation Committee

This Charter establishes a standing committee of the Town Council of the Town of Scottsville to be known as the Historic Preservation Committee. The committee is charged with full responsibility for promoting and facilitating historic preservation within the Town. Subject to the availability of resources, Council will provide the committee with the means and authority needed to carry out that responsibility.

Quality of Life Committee

This Charter establishes a standing committee of the Town Council of the Town of Scottsville to be known as the Quality of Life Committee. The committee is charged with full responsibility for ensuring the people of Scottsville live in a beautiful and fulfilling community with recreational facilities to enjoy and the best possible educational, health and welfare, transportation, and other such services, provided by county and regional authorities. Subject to the availability of resources, Council will provide the committee with the means and authority needed to carry out that responsibility.

Traffic, Public Safety, and Infrastructure Committee

This Charter establishes a standing committee of the Town Council of the Town of Scottsville to be known as the Traffic, Public Safety, and Infrastructure Committee. The committee is charged with full responsibility for ensuring the streets and sidewalks, traffic regulations and signs, public parking, sewer and water, and other public utilities and facilities, police, fire, rescue, flood, inspection, and other protective services best meet the needs of the people of Scottsville. Subject to the availability of resources, Council will provide the committee with the means and authority needed to carry out that responsibility.

Tourism Committee

This Charter establishes a standing committee of the Town Council of the Town of Scottsville to be known as the Tourism Committee. The committee is charged with full responsibility for promoting the Town to attract tourists and consumers in ways that are complementary to area residents. Subject to availability of resources, Council will provide the committee with the means and authority needed to carry out that responsibility.
